Beginning of 2021 the Canadian company West Fraser formerly known as Norbord awarded Büttner the contract for modifying and increasing the performance of its OSB drying system in Genk, Belgium. The existing plant from another manufacturer was replaced by a high-efficiency Büttner drum dryer type 6,5 x 33 R for new material separator cyclones with ceramic lining and complete new ducting.

Büttner’s scope also included the transport, the complete disassembly of the old equipment as well as installing the new drying system.

The complexity of the project was defined by removing the old drum from underneath the existing wet strand bin and installing the new drum in the same position within a very short shutdown time. The new Büttner dryer was successfully in operation and accepted at the beginning of 2022.
