In November 2021, Homanit Krosno Odrzańskie Spółka z o.o, belonging to Homanit Holding, ordered for its site in Krosno Odrzańskie, Poland, its second grate firing plant with direct steam generator from BÜTTNER Energie- und Trocknungssysteme GmbH. Assembly of the plant started on June 27th 2022.

With an overall firing capacity of about 43 MW and an additional fines injection in the lower combustion chamber, the new plant will generate 30 t/h of saturated steam. The flue gas will efficiently be used in the existing BÜTTNER fiber dryer. A special feature of the new plant is the modern flue gas cleaning system with which the demanding Polish emission limits are complied. A dry sorption with lime hydrate was provided for this application in order to reduce sulfur oxides (SOx), hydrogen chloride (HCL) and hydrogen fluoride (HF). For particles separation, a downstream dry precipitator with three fields is installed.

The BÜTTNER scope of supply consists of the complete engineering, as well as manufacturing, and transport of the machines, metal sheet components, refractory lining and steel structures. Already in the beginning of 2015 the first fiber dryer and the first energy plant with an installed firing capacity of 49 MW had been taken into operation in Krosno. The scope of supply had been a thermal oil heater for heating the Siempelkamp Contiroll®. The entire line for producing thin boards had been delivered by Siempelkamp-Group.

Commissioning of the new energy plant is planned for early 2023.
