Pulp is a lignocellulosic fibrous material prepared by chemically or mechanically separating cellulose fibers from wood, fiber crops or waste paper. Pulp is the major raw material used in papermaking and the industrial production of other paper products.
There are a number of different processes which can be used to separate the wood fiber. 

The main processes are mechanical pulping, chemical mechanical pulping and chemical pulping. The most applied pulping processes are the kraft (sulfate), sulfit, thermomechanical (TMP) and chemi- thermomechanical pulping (CTMP) processes. The pulp can be bleached to produce a white paper product.
