Applications
Your application - our solution
The operation of various drying systems, the range of burners and the Siempelkamp Energy & Drying Solutions energy systems (formerly Büttner) are always used with the aim of drying industrial goods or providing process heat.
Siempelkamp Energy & Drying Solutions now also offers appropriate environmental technology plants for the reduction of emissions to this end.
MDF boards from wood fibres, OSB boards from wood strands or particle boards are just three examples from the wood processing industry of where our systems are used. The wood fibre insulation boards used in home construction and the increasingly popular wood pellets must first go through an industrial drying process.
Outside of the wood industry, bulk solids, fodder, starch and biomass products must also be efficiently dried before they can be used.
Our dryer systems, burners and energy systems have earned their place on the market for all of these areas of application.

Gentle and even drying of wood-based materials
For decades, manufacturers in the wood-based panel industry have relied on our proven technologies. In particular, the gentle and uniform drying of raw materials such as wood fibers, OSB strands, or wood chips represents the core competence. This is complemented by the use of various burners and the utilization of our energy systems for the efficient provision of process heat.
Suitable dryers:
Fuel production with Energy systems and single-pass drum dryers
Wood pellets are in fashion as fuel for private homes and industrial firing systems.
The rod-like pellets are produced mainly out of wood wastes from saw and planing mills, as well as from debarked and shredded logs. Siempelkamp Energy & Drying Solutions´ drying systems ensure that wood chips are dried efficiently with energy savings in mind and at the required moisture level before they are made into pellets.
Suitable dryers:
Dried efficiently in flash tube dryers
Pulp is a lignocellulosic fibrous material prepared by chemically or mechanically separating cellulose fibers from wood, fiber crops or waste paper. Pulp is the major raw material used in papermaking and the industrial production of other paper products.
Suitable dryers:
Extend the shelf life with drying
Global demand for food and feed is expected to increase dramatically in the coming decades as a consequence of the rapid population growth, rising incomes and changing consumption patterns, especially in emerging economies. The last years have continued to see an increase in the demand for animal protein worldwide, including for livestock, dairy and fish.
Suitable dryers:
Rotary Drum Dryers
High quality thanks to flash tube dryer technology
Starch is a carbohydrate extracted from agricultural raw materials, which is present in thousands of everyday food and non-food applications.
It is the most important carbohydrate in the human diet.
Suitable dryers:
Drying systems and energy systems, a combined solution
The utilisation of renewable raw materials is attracting ever more attention and the application of biomass as a fuel is now commonplace. Bark, waste from the wood industry, from roadside maintenance and from landscaping, as well as agricultural wastes such as straw or palm fibres serve as fuel. All materials have one thing in common: in most cases their water content must be significantly reduced before they can be used for energy.
Suitable dryers:
Single-pass drum dryers and other drying systems for free-flowing materials
Free-flowing bulk solids represent very different challenges to the drying process because of their heterogeneous nature. Wood particles, beet pulp and other biomass products are processed differently from fertiliser, soil, fodder or coal. Based on decades of experience with a variety of materials, Siempelkamp Energy & Drying Solutions has established a comprehensive spectrum of drying solutions and related thermal energy systems.
